Golden Square resident Wade Wilson, 22, applied for bail in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court last week.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Mick Arnott said bail was opposed on the grounds Mr Wilson presented an unacceptable risk of offending while on bail, endangering the safety and wellbeing of community members, and interfering with witnesses.
On February 13, Mr Wilson attended Bendigo police station for advice on a matter.
But he allegedly became agitated and hit a security screen and kicked the door, telling police he was going to sort the matter out.
It is alleged he attended the victim’s house a short time later, armed with a club made from a chair leg that had holes drilled into it and dowels inserted.
Mr Wilson was allegedly yelling and screaming and hit the victim’s vehicle with the club.
A man at the scene tried to calm him, but a scuffle broke out as an attempt was made to stop Mr Wilson entering the home.
It is alleged Mr Wilson broke free and tried to get to the front door again, before leaving.
The court heard the victim was fearful Mr Wilson would get inside and assault her with the club.
Mr Wilson was arrested at his home later that day.
He was on bail at the time of the alleged incident.
Mr Wilson told the court he had been harassed and went to the police for help but was denied.
Magistrate Patrick Southey said Mr Wilson had a very short fuse, and determined he was an unacceptable risk.
“Preparing weapons, that’s alarming,” he said.
Mr Wilson will return to court next month.
