Competitors are preparing for one of the country’s most iconic water ski races, the Southern 80.
The race is held on the Murray River, with competitors of all ages and abilities participating.
More than 400 entries are expected to take to the water in 2019, with several from the Bendigo region.
Axedale’s Tony Dempster, Bendigo’s Jessica Pearse and Junortoun’s Tony Morley are among the competitors from the surrounding region.
To mark the 50th running of the race, the Moama Water Sports Club will launch the Southern 80 Hall of Fame to recognise the contributions of people who have made the race possible.
“From the crews competing, to the officials behind the scenes and the sponsors who have helped put the event on the water, the Hall of Fame is a fantastic opportunity for the MWSC to acknowledge the work, skills and dedication that these people have shown over a number of years,” MWSC president Steve Shipp said.
The race will be held on the Murray River between Torrumbarry and Echuca from February 8-10.
