Tessa Stewart competed at the triathlon for the first time, finishing the long course in eight position with a final time of 01:27:21 within the female 30-39 category.
“I have only ever competed at one other triathlon in my life and that was at Echuca a few years ago,” Stewart said.
Scott Baxter competed for the sixth time, finishing in eighth position with a final time of 01:07:32 within the male 40-49 category.
“Triathlons are a great way to keep fit and I just love the country atmosphere out here at Bridgewater.”
“Always good to help support the small towns and their sports clubs.”
There were three courses for competitors to choose from – short course, long course and duathlon.
“For the first leg of the triathlon we started in the river, the water was very nice,” Baxter laughed.
“Then we went out for a ride and then back for the final part with a run along the river.
"After all that I was glad to see the finish line.”
Event organiser Bryan Ryan said Bridgewater was a beautiful setting for the triathlon.
“The river really makes the event,” Ryan said.
“As locals, we are all very proud of the triathlon.”
The event is the major annual fundraiser for the Bridgewater Football Netball Club.
