Hans, or Matt Gilbertson, is bringing his high-energy cabaret show to the region – featuring lots of songs and lots of fun – with his first show in regional Victoria, in a sneak peek performance ahead of his debut at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Born and bred in Adelaide, it has been a big couple of years for the performer. Most recently, in 2018, Gilbertson won the hearts of Americans and judges Mel B, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Tyra Banks with his cheeky song and dance routines.
His performances have delighted audiences around the world, winning Best Cabaret at the 2017 Adelaide Fringe, among a horde of other performances at Perth and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.

He also recently performed at The Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Gilbertson studied practical piano and dancing growing up, before teaching himself how to play the accordion and taking to the streets as a busker.
After being spotted, Gilbertson began to develop the flamboyant German-inspired character Hans.
“From there I got a job working on Nova Radio as a celebrity gossip reporter. I was then able to put on my own show, with a band and dancing girls. The costumes got more glittery and more feathery from there,” he said.
“I hope to be the first person to do a bit of German Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue [at the Palais] and hopefully it will be a historical milestone!”
Gilbertson’s show, Hans’ Haus Party, is coming to the Palais on Saturday, February 2. Book through the website.
