The heat, however, didn’t deter some thieves who took six water metres – with that likely to be tip of the iceberg.
It was also the week where we learned that after 44 years Henderson’s – the camping and manufacturing institution – was getting ready to close its doors. It touched a cord with our readers – who fondly remembered the family business.
One one lucky Bendigo punter also found himself $10,000 richer after finding a lost scratchie ticket in his car
We headed into the Australia Day holiday all looking for a break from the heat’s effects – and today the mercury has dropped a bit.
It’s a big weekend in the calendar – there’s lots of events on and it’s going to be a good few days ahead for a day trip, perhaps to a winery
Yesterday our local heroes were honoured as part of Australia Day – recently departed Bendigo Art Gallery director Karen Quinlan, who was awarded an AO, was back in town for the holiday.
And the crowds were out to celebrate our national day at spots around central Victoria.
Finally, If you’re looking for something to do today, head along to the countdown of the Top 100 craft beers at Bendigo’s Hop Supply Co – and catch some great music at the same time.
Enjoy the long weekend.
