Is there a plot to drive the committee to distraction and drop their interest? Do we as a community need to keep a look-out for those responsible who are attempting to destroy a well run pool which serves this community of Golden Square?
These vandals need to have a good look at themselves. If this pool closes it will help destroy Golden Square as a community.
Do the committee need help and support to patrol the area at night?

Conductors used to collect our bus fares
On Friday January 11 Ian Bates wrote in the Bendigo Advertiser (“Fare dodgers making it tough on honest bus users”, Letters to the Editor) about the amount of fare evaders using the urban bus services that was staggering to see.
It was with interest I read the Bendigo Advertiser’s (Monday, January 21) front page headline “Bus fare debate” referring to the amount of fare evaders abusing the system.
In earlier days trams and buses had conductors to collect fares as patrons boarded and issued them with a ticket to travel. There was also an inspector that would travel the trams here in Bendigo checking that patrons had valid tickets.
But these things were got rid of in trade offs with unions in so-called productivity gains (more money for the company) but has resulted in a financial disaster and the loss of jobs.

The proposal to possibly employ local inspectors one would think is a step in the right direction, because bringing inspectors from Melbourne isn't working.
To say that the Department of Transport issued 110 fines between 2017-18 would only be a drop in the ocean to the amount of fare evaders, given that it has been stated there is at least one fare evader on each every run and every route would possibly amount to 1000s.
And you can't expect the driver to be challenging fare evaders in fear of verbal or physical retaliation.
If this was done then the revenue that would be recouped would go along way in providing better services even to the point that steep fare increases could be avoided.

Drug testing
Since we are still doing raids and charging people who producing illicit drugs and it is still an offence to posses and use such drugs I wonder why we have people like the Mayor Robert Vance advocating for the testing of such drugs at the Rainbow Serpent just to save one life.
Surely these people are old enough to know the consequences of what taking such drugs can do to them, like death.
