A WNBL championship player with the Bendigo Spirit, Lavey has signed with the Bendigo Braves for the 2019 season.
It will be Lavey’s second stint with the Braves after she played with the club in 2015.
The 25-year-old was part of the Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning Opals team in 2018 and also earned a silver medal at the world championship.
“Tessa brings so much experience for a player of her young age, couple that with her leadership skills and proven ability to perform at the highest level and you have an asset for any team,” Braves’ coach Megan Moody said.
Originally from Swan Hill, Lavey has WNBL experience with the AIS, Canberra, Perth, Dandenong and the Bendigo Spirit.
Lavey will play in the Braves’ backcourt alongside club great Kelly Wilson.
The Braves won the 2018 SEABL championship. The SEABL has disbanded and the club will play in a new state league in 2019.
