The CFA was called to attend the fire on the Avoca-Bealiba Road at Rathscar West at 2.34pm Tuesday.
The 30-metre by 10-metre shed contained about 60 hay bales, a tractor, and assorted machinery.
It has since been marked safe.
Emergency Victoria has issued an advice message for people in the Avoca, Homebush, Lower Homebush, Rathscar, Rathscar West and Wareek areas.
There is no risk to the community, but people are advised to close windows and doors to prevent smoke entering buildings.
