The Hop Supply Co. in McCrae Street will host a part for the Hottest 100 Craft Beer Countdown on Sunday from midday.
Hop Supply owner Scott Toll said it was the first time the craft beer bottle shop is hosting an event like this.
“Bridge Road Brewers approached us after after Bendigo on the Hop where we were a venue for the first time,” he said.
“That went really well and they wanted to come and host a Bendigo event and asked if we would team with them for it.”
Mr Toll said as craft beer has grown in popularity throughout Australia, so has the Craft Beer Hottest 100.
“It hasn’t been around as long as (Triple J’s Hottest 100) but it gets more popular by the year,” he said.
“Craft beer as a whole has got more popular because people want to try more things, they get excited for new beers to come along and, now, they get to vote for what they think is the best beer.”
Woodend’s Holgate Brewery as well as Beechworth’s Bridge Road Pale Ale are expected to poll well in the countdown.
“They were in the top 10 last couple years and their pale ale popular across the board,” Mr Toll said.
“I would love to see (Bendigo’s) Brookes Beer crack the 100. I’m not sure how they polled previously but they have got a good following, so hopefully they get a mention.”
Mr Toll opened Hop Supply almost two years ago as a craft beer-specific bottle shop.
“We're from Bendigo originally and saw that great culture that is here,” he said.
“A few of the festivals have kept growing and are getting more popular but Bendigo didn’t have a (craft beer) bottlo that some Melbourne suburbs have, so it was an opportunity to bring something like that here.
“We also have the car park right there which makes it easy for people.”
Hop Supply’s Hottest 100 Car Park Party is on from midday at 137 McCrae Street, Bendigo. Tickets are $20.
