According to the advertisement, Bendigo Stadium Limited is seeking expressions of interest from ‘a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic head coach’ to runs its WNBL women’s program.
“This role is responsible for the development and execution of the Bendigo Spirit basketball program to foster a culture of leadership on the court and within the community,” the advertisement reads.
“In this role you will partner with key stakeholders to deliver the strategic objectives of the club to build a stronger, healthier, happier and safer community through basketball.”
The Spirit have had just two coaches during their 12 year history in the WNBL, with Bernie Harrower guiding the team from their inaugural season in 2007-08 to 2014-15, including a pair of championships in 2012-13 and 2013-14 and a grand final in 2014-15.
He was succeeded by Pritchard in 2015-16, who has led the club for the last four seasons.
Addressing the decision to seek a new coach earlier this month, Bendigo Stadium Limited general manager of sport Ben Harvey said: “The new coach will need to bring sound knowledge as well as the skills to instil a culture of success, determination and growth.
“We will commence the recruitment process post the regular season, to give the best opportunity to plan
well in advance for the 2019/20 WNBL season.”
Bendigo is one of two clubs currently on the hunt for a new coach after Sydney Uni Flames championship coach Cheryl Chambers announced she would finish up after splitting time between Sydney and her family home in Melbourne.
