FOR the second time this season Eaglehawk has survived an almighty scare from Inglewood in BBD weekend pennant.
Just as they did against the Woods in round three, the Hawks won by just four shots in their return bout at Inglewood on Saturday.
The Hawks prevailed 92-88 as the bottom-of-the-ladder Woods once again served it right up to their highly-fancied opponents, but fell just short.
The clash included two Eaglehawk wins by margins of two and one shot – Darren Burgess 27-25 over Daryl Rowley and Brayden Byrne 21-20 against Mal McLean.

Rowley’s rink is yet to win a game this season, but showed plenty of fighting spirit to almost take down Burgess’ rink, which is ranked No.3 in the BBD.
The Eaglehawk rink of Dean Carter made it six wins in a row with a 22-15 victory over Robert Day, while the best of the Inglewood rinks was that of Lindsay Kelly, which defeated Simon Carter 28-22.
• Bendigo East showed its class with a 35-shot demolition at home of Golden Square.
For the third time this season the ladder-leading Beasties had all rinks up in their 118-83 victory, which included a brutal performance from Lee Schraner, whose rink remained unbeaten with a 37-16 thumping of Daryl Cheeseman.
Despite the blowout margin, there were two tight contests as the East rinks of Marc Smith (+3 against Geoff Walsh) and Brad Marron (+1 against Trevor Schill) overcame a pair of challenges to take the points.

• South Bendigo won its first game since round four and in doing so returned to the top four.
South defeated Castlemaine 93-84 led by a dominant performance from the rink of coach Brad Holland, which defeated Peter Brain 32-19.
While it was a defeat for Castlemaine at home, the side did shave 51 shots off its losing margin in round three to South Bendigo when it was beaten by 60.

• Bendigo continued its push for a return to the finals, defeating Kangaroo Flat 92-81.
Andrew Brown (+4), Damian Broderick (+2) and Mitchell Hocking (+6) were all winning skippers for Bendigo.
