Update, 4.41pm:
A person has died after the car they were driving hit a tree and caught on fire west of Maryborough today.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, which happened just before 3.30pm on Homebush Road at Homebush.
The driver – who was the sole occupant of the single cab ute – died at the scene and has yet to be identified.
Police have urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A grass fire at Homebush, near Avoca, has prompted an advice alert from VicEmergency.
The grass fire, which was caused by a motor vehicle accident, is under control.
Road closures will affect Homebush Road, with traffic being rediected by Victoria Police.
Smoke will be visible from nearby communities and roads.
VicEmergency have advised that while the fire at present poses no threat, people should stay informed and monitor conditions.
