Strong winds at Lake Eppalock forced organisers to abandon the event on the second of two days of racing.
But not before more than 20 events were run and a pair of features decided on the Saturday.
Melton driver Grant Harrison claimed dual honours in the Mary and Ernie Nunn Memorial and Col Brown Series (for 1.6 litre hydroplanes).
Event co-ordinator Scott Lambert said it was disappointing ‘Mother Nature’ has intervened, but the safety of competitors was foremost in the minds of organisers.
“In regards to rescheduling (the Cup), we would have to apply to council to get another sanction – that’s how these events run,” he said.
Lambert said a pleasing feature was the entry of 16 junior drivers.
“Among them was one brand new junior …maybe five years ago we were struggling to get two or three drivers, now it’s up to 16,” he said.
“There were also two new boats in the 95-mile-an-hour class, with both boats returning after about 20 yerrs.”
The Victorian Speed Boat Club will hold its next event in June.
