LAI public programs coordinator Karen Annett-Thomas said there was a terrific response to the workshop.
“We had people coming and going all day but about 70 people in total visited including 45 kids,” she said.
“It is the third time we have run these workshops in collaboration with t he National Gallery of Victoria and it has always got a great response.”
Inspired by NGV exhibition – Escher x nendo – primary-school aged children took part in a range of free hands-on activities and workshops.
“Looking at MC Escher there was a bit of an art and maths crossover with pattern making and tessellation,” Dr Annett-Thomas said.
Dr Annett-Thomas said the workshops were a good way to beat the heat for families.
“There was a lot of escaping the heat for families and we had a video exploring Escher’s process screening for parents in the auditorium as the kids wandered between activities,” she said.
The free NGV Kids on Tour workshops will be at Bendigo Art Gallery from 11am to 1pm on January 17 and at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery on January 23 at 10.30am and 1.30pm.
