Lyndon Turvey, 51, appeared in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and signalled his intention to formally plead guilty later this year to charges of bribery and misconduct.
Mr Turvey is accused of corruptly receiving 27 payments totalling $24,530 between May 2016 and July 2017 to act in violation of his public duty and show favour to particular prisoners, while employed at the prison.
It is also alleged Mr Turvey participated in introducing contraband to the prison for four prisoners between May 2016 and September 2017.
Mr Turvey’s defence counsel, Markorius Habib, requested an adjournment to sort out funding and arrange assessments, including a neuro-psychological assessment.
Mr Turvey will return to court on May 24.
