A rock about the size of a fist hit one car’s windscreen, directly in front of the driver’s seat.
Police believe the driver was an off-duty paramedic.
The incidents occurred in the early hours of this morning, about 3am, in Gisborne.
Police patrolled the freeway and found broken eggs, glass and rocks below the overpass.
Both vehicles sustained damage to their windscreens and bonnets.
One vehicle’s windscreen was partially pierced, while the other’s was scratched.
Police have urged those responsible to come forward. They have also called on anyone with information or footage to contact the Kyneton Police Station on 5421 2900.
