The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission has issued a product recall for the “Seeley International Pty Ltd — Braemar SCHF21C3S and Braemar SCHF25C3S Outdoor Air Conditioner Units” due to the fire risk.
CFA State Fire Investigation Coordinator Nicole Harvey said with the hot weather Victorians affected by the recall were advised to act immediately.
“We at CFA are acutely aware that when it’s hot, you’re going to want to use your air conditioner, people with these air conditioner units need to be aware that their desire to cool down may put their lives and the lives of the ones they love at risk.”
The ACCC said the models affected by the recall were 3 phase 21kw and 25kW outdoor units specific to certain ducted and add-on cooling Braemar airconditioners sold nationally by various distributors between 14 October 2016 until 28 March 2018.
The recall affect the models had the batch numbers 16HxxxxAKC, (where xxxx can be numbers from 0001 – 0010 and 0017-0032) and 16IxxxxAKC, (where xxxx can be numbers from 0001 – 0016 and 0033-0057).
The recall of the air conditioner units was a timely reminder people to service their units and evaporative coolers to ensure effective operation and prevention of possible fires.
“You need to maintain your air conditioners and evaporative coolers by ensuring the units are regularly serviced according to the manufacturer’s specifications,” Ms Harvey said.
