PERFORMANCES
FRIDAY NIGHT TUNES
Head along and enjoy regularly scheduled, live and free Friday night music.
Emma Black will be performing a concert at the Bendigo District RSL.
Black is a professional singer, actress, model and voice-over artist who has been performing for more than 20 years.
Black has performed on stage as a solo artist, in her acoustic duo with her brother (Pure Black) and with the seven-piece blues band, Trouble in Mind.
Black also works as a singing teacher to all ages in Bendigo and she most recently competed on the television show, All Together Now.

SATURDAY SESSIONS
Singer, songwriter, Richie Langford will be performing this weekend, using an old suitcase converted into a kick drum, a foot tambourine, acoustic guitars, and wailing harmonica.
Bring the whole family along for this great day out as you watch Langford deliver a repertoire of originals and blues songs with his rocking-swamp groove.
Soak in the sun poolside while enjoying good food, local wines, ice-cold tap beer and summer cocktails.
Children will be entertained by the pool and the playground.

BLUES TRAM
The Bendigo Blues Tram combines two great attractions, a historic tram ride and great local musical talent.
Attendees can relax on the tram, rolling through the streets of Bendigo, listening to the sounds of Victor Cripes and Tasha Zappala.
After a short stop at the Tram Depot and Joss House, the tram then turns back towards the mine.
Sessions take approximately 2.5 hours, with drinks and snacks served by the crew.
Tickets are $35 per person.

ABORIGINAL WEAVING
Take part in this workshop and learn the art of Aboriginal weaving.
Trina Dalton-Ooges shares the traditional art and teaches weaving with hands-on experience in this special workshop. For teens and adults.

CHINESE NEW YEAR
Internationally recognised Chinese astrology and feng shui expert, Master Salwa Abboud, will be in Bendigo presenting a workshop on Chinese New Year and The Year of the Earth Pig.
Chinese New Year begins on February 5.
Master Salwa Abboud will share her insights of the year ahead, relating to health, weath, work, relationship and the home environment.

DANCING QUEEN
Feel energised and dance with the Spring Gully Hall Committee at one of their events.

FUNDRAISING DINNER
South Bendigo Football Netball Club are hosting a fundraising dinner for one of their dedicated netballers, Chloe Langley, who will represent Victoria at next year’s National Netball Championships.
Chloe has been selected in the final 17-under team and is among a squad of 12 who have made the state 17-under team for the 2019 National Netball Championships.
All netballers, footballers, committee, sponsors, members, parents, family and friends are invited to join in and raise money to help Chloe chase her dreams
Thirty per cent of takings from every meal purchased, will go directly to Chloe and her family.

SUMMER SALSA
Come and dance salsa in Bendigo's beautiful gardens. Bring a picnic and a friend and learn something new.

EXHIBITIONS
RUPTURE
Central Victoria artist, Jessie Boylan, has produced a new work titled Rupture.
Rupture shows the ways in which the body, people and the world mimic each other in a crisis.
Rupture uses video and sound to illustrate some of the stressors in today’s world – from fires and floods to the relentless pace of modern life – alongside a performer’s depiction of the body’s response to trauma.

THE LONG SUMMER SALON
Join in for the first exhibition opening event of 2019 at Cascade Art, Maldon.

VALE: MOURNING, REMEMBRANCE AND SPIRITUALISM
This exhibition explores a subject still often regarded as taboo, yet remains a universal human experience.
Death and managing human death, as well as the associated rituals and practices, has been a part of civic life in Bendigo (and elsewhere) since the city’s earliest days.
Items such as a travelling tool case once used by Heathcote undertaker William Perry, offer a glimpse into the necessary practicalities of this profession.

FRIDA KAHLO: HER PHOTOS
Featuring photos from the extensive archive of the Casa Azul (Blue House), this exhibition showcases highlights from the personal collection of Frida Kahlo.
Frida Kahlo is considered one of the most celebrated artists of the 20th century and her interests are reflected in this series of photographs of family, loves, the medical, politics and much more.
The exhibition also reveals Kahlo’s passion for collecting historical photographs as reference material for her work.

GOTHIC BEAUTY
Curated by Tansy Curtin and Jessica Bridgfoot (and a Bendigo Art Gallery exclusive), this exhibition takes a look into early Victorian rituals of mourning as early as the 1800s.
The artists featured in the exhibition include Jane Burton, Bill Henson and Janet Beckhouse. The exhibition draws on works from the gallery's historic collections, as well as loaned pieces and works from contemporary artists.

HONEYBEE HIVE TOUR
Discover the inner workings of a honeybee hive and take part in a unique, exciting and educational experience.
Learn about the different properties and uses of uncontaminated, hand-pressed, honey and how to help bees at your home. These tours are designed for gardeners, adventurers, foodies and anyone who wants to learn more about bees. Please note, this tour is not a beekeeping class.
There is also a chance to take home a 250g jar of local Castlemaine honey.
