City of Greater Bendigo visitor services manager Jemma Docherty said there has been an increase in “local tourists” since Christmas with the Ambassdor Pass, which includes special offers for local residents proving popular.
“We have definitely seen a lot of visitors. Normally the expectation of Christmas people think it will be a bit quiet but we have still seen a lot of people through the door,” she said.
“One of the key things we have seen is an increase in people buying the Ambassador Pass and creating uniquely Bendigo gift hampers.
“Fortuna has sold a ton of vouchers and Bendigo Brittle (peanut brittle) has been hugely flying off the shelf.”
Ms Docherty said with the warmer weather, a lot of families had been looking for activities out of the sun.
“Central Deborah Gold Mine has been really popular because it is a bit cooler,” she said.
