Police and SES are on scene at an incident in Hargreaves Street, near the intersection with Williamson Street.
Senior Constable Chris Thompson said the truck driver was attempting to turn into a lane between the former Music Man venue and the Reject Shop but misjudged the height of his vehicle and subsequently ran into the gutter of the former Music Man building.
SES workers are checking the structure to ensure it is safe.
Senior Constable Thompson said the truck driver, a 26-year-old man from Melbourne, would receive a penalty notice for careless driving.
