The 14-year-old out stormed to victory at the Maryborough Highland Gathering, finishing with a time of 46.764 with a handicap of 70.
“I spent a lot of time at the back of the field last year so it was great to win the race,” Noden said.
“I passed a couple of the other runners and after the 200m marker I led for the rest of the race.
“I just focused on what was ahead of me and kept running...it was just a matter of staying in there.”
Noden spent the last 12 months training rigorously with several training sessions each week at the Bendigo Athletic Complex.
Noden is following in the footsteps of his father Phil who is also a seasoned runner.
Noden will now rest in preparation for a double-header event weekend and will compete at the Castlemaine Gift on Saturday and the Daylesford Gift on Sunday.
