SPORTING AND FITNESS
SUMMER SALSA
Come and dance some Salsa in Bendigo's beautiful gardens.
Bring a picnic and a friend and learn something new.
Classes are 30-45 minutes followed by 45-60 minutes of dancing.
Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing to allow for movement.

2019 ROADNATS
Cyclists are preparing to get behind the handlebars for this great event.
Competitors will travel from across the country to compete at the five-day cycling festival.
The 2019 RoadNats will run with multiple criterium, road race and time trial events to be held at Ballarat and Buninyong.
One of the biggest challenges for all RoadNats competitors will be racing in conditions where temperatures have been forecast to reach 40 degrees on Friday.

BODY BALANCE CLASS

PACING CUP
Enjoy a family-oriented evening for the Pacing Cup this weekend.
The event includes great action on the track, food trucks, live music, a ‘Kid Zone’, face painting and the first 100 children through the gates will receive a show bag.
The event also has free admission for children, with adults gaining entry for a gold coin donation, supporting Righteous Pups Australia.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to win a huge range of prizes in the Cup Field Mega-Draw, to be conducted as a sweep on the cup race.

SADDLE HORSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Attend a great day out and watch some saddle horse events.
The day features child’s mounts, riding, open led, rising stars, show hunters, open saddle classes and much more.
There are also awards and prizes including garlands, rugs, sashes and products.

CLUB PADDLE
Enjoy some fun in the early evening sun at Bendigo’s scenic Lake Weeroona.
All types of paddle craft welcome to this event.
This is a non-competitive environment, just try and beat your own time.

CASTLEMAINE GIFT
The Castlemaine Gift is an almost century-old tradition, having first run in the 1920s.
Hundreds of athletes will travel to central Victoria for the event, supported by local community members.
A gift race is 120 metres long with the quickest runners beginning the race closer to the starting lne.

HONEYBEE HIVE TOUR
Discover the inner workings of a honeybee hive and take part in a unique, exciting and educational experience.
Learn about the different properties and uses of uncontaminated, hand-pressed, honey and how to help bees at your home.
These tours are designed for gardeners, adventurers, foodies and anyone who wants to learn more about bees.
Please note, this tour is not a beekeeping class.
There is also a chance to take home a 250g jar of local Castlemaine honey.
Bee suits and gloves provided, please wear closed-toe shoes that cover the ankles.

SILENT DISCO COLLECTION TOURS
Take part in this fun gallery collection tour, engaging with artworks on display in a new, different way.
Vern Hardie (Connected Circus) will lead the 20 minute disco tour, playing a selection of music from the 70’s through to contemporary.
This silent disco is a perfect outing during the school holidays.
Pop on the provided headphones and release your inner dancing queen.

NEW YEAR DANCE
Celebrate the new year with the Spring Gully Hall Committee at one of their toe-tapping dances.
This event features music by Mantel, a good program and a delicious, home cooked supper.

RUPTURE
Central Victorian artist, Jessie Boylan, has produced a new work titled Rupture.
Rupture shows the ways in which the body, people and the world mimic each other in a crisis.
Rupture uses video and sound to illustrate some of the stressors in today’s world – from fires and floods to the relentless pace of modern life – alongside a performer’s depiction of the body’s response to trauma.

VALE: MOURNING, REMEMBRANCE AND SPIRITUALISM
This exhibition explores a subject still often regarded as taboo, yet remains a universal human experience.
Death and managing human death, as well as the associated rituals and practices, has been a part of civic life in Bendigo (and elsewhere) since the city’s earliest days.
Items such as a travelling tool case once used by Heathcote undertaker William Perry, offers a glimpse into the necessary practicalities of this profession.

FRIDA KAHLO: HER PHOTOS
Featuring photos from the extensive archive of the Casa Azul (Blue House), this exhibition showcases highlights from the personal collection of Frida Kahlo.
Frida Kahlo is considered one of the most celebrated artists of the 20th century and her interests are reflected in this series of photographs, family, loves, the medical, politics and much more.
The exhibition also reveals Kahlo’s passion for collecting historical photographs as reference material for her work.

GOTHIC BEAUTY
Curated by Tansy Curtin and Jessica Bridgfoot (and as a Bendigo Art Gallery exclusive), this exhibition takes a look into early Victorian rituals of mourning, as early as the 1800s.
The artists featured in the exhibition range from Jane Burton, Bill Henson and Janet Beckhouse just to name a few.
This exhibition draws on works from the gallery's historic collections, as well as loaned pieces and works from contemporary artists.
