The team had a strong performance during the Speedweek stage of the Series at races throughout Victoria and South Australia.
“We had plenty of ups and downs during the week but we definitely finished on a high note,” team driver Rusty Hickman said.
Hickman’s last race of Speedweek saw the World Series field return to Premier Speedway at Warrnambool for round five.
In the first heat Hickman finished first after starting from second position and in the second heat finished second after starting from fifth position.
During the feature race Hickman held his spot in the field after he started and finished in sixth position and was needed to nurse his car over the finish line with low fuel levels.
“It has been a great experience for the whole team and we’ve only had to rebuild the car once after Mount Gambier.”
The team did not finish the round two A-Main race at Mount Gambier after a collision.
However, Hickman knows mistakes are all part of the process of becoming a champion driver.
“Small mistakes will make me a better driver in the long run,” Hickman said.
The World Series will now progress to the Sunshine Swing stage of the tournament with two races at Archerfield Speedway, Queensland.
Archerfield is a track Hickman hasn’t raced at before, but father Darren has during his career as a sprintcar racer and will be sure to give some tips before he gets behind the wheel.
Hickman currently sits in seventh position in the overall standings with 982 points.
Following the races in Queensland, the Series will then head to Western Australia for the final leg of the tournament with races at Albany and Kwinana Beach.
