Organisers could not have asked for a better day to host the event as clear blue skies shone down on all in attendance.
The Glenlyon Sports Club president Damian Leonard was pleased with how smoothly the day went.
“It’s been great so far,” he said while the first lot of wood chopping competitions began.
“The weather is perfect, we’ve already seen a lot of people come through the gates and we’re only expecting more.”
The Glenlyon CFA was, as always, in attendance, running the always-popular spinning wheel raffle.
CFA treasurer Margret Lockwood said it was always a pleasure to see so many community members out enjoying the day.
“This is one of our major fundraising events,” she said.
“It also serves as a great platform for community education around the fire danger period.”
Horse racing, gumboot throwing and nail driving were just some of the events the crowd enjoyed on the near-30-degree day, with the famous World Bull Boar Competition and the World Mineral Water Drinking Competition once again taking centre stage.
A few brave souls graced the stage with Fiona MacDonald (4.85 seconds) and Kieran Frost (7.28 seconds) both taking the honours in the women and men divisions.
It remains to be seen if the sports day raised more than its target of $17,000.
