It is understood the incident involved an altercation between two young people.
A man in his 30s sustained upper body injuries and was taken to hospital on Wednesday, but released later that same day.
EARLIER: A man was taken to hospital with upper body injuries following an incident at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre on Boxing Day.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the centre about 3pm on Wednesday.
A man in his 30s was then taken to hospital.
A Department of Justice and Regulation spokesperson said one youth justice worker was assessed on-site before he was taken to hospital for assessment.
The spokesperson said the man was released from hospital later that day.
The matter was reported to Victoria Police.
“Violent behaviour or assaults by young people in custody is absolutely unacceptable, and the safety of our staff, young people and the community is of utmost importance,” the department spokesperson said.
