Is return of double train line to Bendigo on cards?
I have recently read and heard information on the cancellation of train services on the Bendigo line through to Echuca and Swan Hill from January 12 until January 27 2019 due to more track maintenance.

Trains will be replaced by coaches during this time.
With the State Government being returned for another four years, the premier and local member and the reappointment of Jacinta Allan as Minister for Transport and Infrastructure have openly stated that they are here to continue to work for and listen to the people of Victoria.
The question I put to the premier and more so the local member with this track maintenance planned is : Does that mean that you are going to put the double line back and finally complete the designated line from Sunbury to Southern Cross that Bendigo services aren't sharing a track with suburban trains anymore?
If you had been reading articles in this paper prior to the election a number complaints were highlighting this problem, the congestion and hold ups on this line something you have been well aware of ever since this ridiculous decision was made by the Labor Government.

I also notice an increase in fares starting in the new year. I find It a bit rich for a sub standard service that is being presented to the commuters.
With the comments that have been made one can assume that the replacement of the double line will happen very soon, but then one shouldn't assume anything these days in the game of politics.
The sad reality is that we have politicians taking these positions without any knowledge or back ground in these areas, listening to bureaucrats and bean counter. We should be recruiting more young blood in politicians as it will be their future in time to come, as some of the present politicians have been there far too long and have not been very productive.
Another odd situation is the duplication of a number of portfolios when there is an abundance of politicians that these could be shared across the board, this would allow each person to commit more time and energy on that one position and one would hope a better outcome for our state and constituents.
I only hope that the local members will carry out what they have said, is to listen to the community or was it only election spin without any substance?

Remarkable VCE efforts from young elite cyclist
Elite cyclist, Sarah Gigante, achieved the perfect ATAR score of 99.95 at Melbourne Girls Grammar. Made even more remarkable by the fact she broke both arms in the junior World Championships in May.
Mum Kerry had to help her write assignments, bathe her, dress her and feed her as she recovered from surgery. Despite medical advice to the contrary, she recovered and saddled up for the championships in Switzerland in August/September, coming second. She would train intensely for four hours every day, then take a quick power nap and study non-stop till it was time to sleep whilst in Europe.

A great lesson for us all on dedication, endurance, excellence, and the importance of family. Well done Sarah.
