Police are investigating whether prescription medication and fatigue may have played a part in a crash near Kyneton on Monday afternoon.
A 25-year-old man was airlifted to hospital in Melbourne after his car left the road and hit a power pole head on on the Kyneton-Springhill Road.
The man was airlifted from Kyneton Hospital to the Alfred Hospital where he is undergoing further assessment and treatment.
Police say the man’s car was travelling west along the Kyneton-Springhill Road when it veered onto the wrong side of the road, hit concrete culvert and then hit a power-pole.
The man was trapped in the car for 45 minutes to an hour while emergency services worked to free him.
Powercor are repairing the pole, which was moved 30-40 centimetres in the ground.
Police, CFA, SES and Ambulance all attended the scene.
Ambulance say the man was flown to the Alfred Hospital in a serious condition with suspected leg and hip injuries.
Police are investigating the incident.
Police have urged anyone on prescription medication to be vigilant about their ability to drive a car, and if unsure, to consult a doctor.
5.55pm:
Paramedics are treating a man in his 20s for suspected pelvis and leg injuries after a crash on the Kyneton-Springhill Road.
The patient has been loaded into an air ambulance.
His condition is unknown at this stage.

Emergency services are working to free a man trapped in a car on the Kyneton-Springhill Road.
Ambulance Victoria say the man is conscious and breathing.
Paramedics are assisting on scene while he is freed.
An air ambulance has arrived at the scene.
Ambulance were called to the incident at 4.43pm.
