The Liberal MP was declared winner of the ultra-marginal state seat of Ripon by 15 votes last week after a re-count.
The Coalition claims Ms Staley, who has 20 years’ experience in the finance industry, will “hold Labor accountable for its record high taxes and plans for the biggest debt binge in Victorian history”.
Nationals member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh continues his role as deputy leader of the Opposition.
He will also be the shadow minister for regional Victoria and decentralisation, shadow minister for agriculture and shadow minister for aboriginal affairs.
Member for Euroa Steph Ryan continues her position as deputy leader of the Nationals, and will serve as shadow minister for water, shadow minister for regional public transport and shadow minister for gaming and liquor regulation.
The Opposition cabinet contains 13 men and 10 women.
“This new shadow cabinet is a balance of skills and experience with an injection of new talent to help the Liberal Nationals win the contest of ideas over how best to take Victoria forward,” Mr O’Brien said.
Labor announced its new cabinet late last month, which has a 50:50 gender split.
Bendigo East MP Jacinta Allan was named minister for transport infrastructure and leader of the lower house of parliament in the state government’s new-look cabinet.
Ms Allan, who previously held the position of public transport minister and minister for major projects, said she was “very pleased” to take on the newly-created portfolio to “continue the big infrastructure agenda” of the state government.
