BENDIGO United is the latest club whose cricketing history has been documented in a book by author Darren Rodda.
Rodda has detailed the 165-year history of Bendigo United in a book titled “BUCC” that will be launched in February next year.
The book focuses on the club as a whole, individual performances across all senior and junior grades and key players throughout the Redbacks’ history.
The book will be launched on Saturday, February 16, at The Bendigo Club.
“It is not just a book about the first XI or a select few. Darren, as he always does, has consulted widely and uncovered some great stories about the people involved with BUCC over time,” Bendigo United spokesman Nick Crawford said on Thursday.
“Darren has also filled the gaps in our historical honour boards and uncovered life members whose contributions to BUCC were otherwise lost.”
As part of the book launch the Redbacks will also induct two new members into their Hall of Fame – 2000 first XI premiership captain Chris Pinniger and club stalwart David Bicknell, who is president of the club.
The guest speaker at the book launch will be former Australian cricketer and coach Darren Lehmann.
Tickets for the function are $50 per person.

Throughout its history Bendigo United has won 19 first XI premierships – its first in 1895 and most recent in 2014.
The club boasts the BDCA’s all-time record holder for most runs (11,579) and centuries (28), with both benchmarks held by 40-year-old Heath Behrens.
This is the seventh cricket history book written by Rodda.
