COMMUNITY EVENTS
WHOVIANS MEET
Doctor Who has turned 55 and Christmas is on the way, so now is a perfect time to celebrate with fellow fans.
Enjoy a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and take a look back at one of the Christmas Specials.
Attendees are encouraged (not compulsory) to bring along an item of Doctor Who merchandise that you own for a "Show & Tell" segment.
Alternatively bring along something Doctor Who themed that you have made yourself.
There will be some merchandise for sale and a free raffle, prize donated by Good Vs Evil & Collect Em All.
You are also welcome to dress in cosplay or any Doctor Who themed wear.
This event is for all ages and is an opportunity for fans to come together, sharing an interest.

BENDIGO PARKRUN
Have you gone to any of the Bendigo parkruns? If not, this Saturday is the perfect time to do something new and different.
The Parkrun is a free event and is a great chance to have fun as well as keep fit.
Grab your friends and family and run with company.

SOCIAL RIDE
If you’re a lady who enjoys dirt and adventure, enjoy a day on mountain trail biking.
Explore the Spring Gully MTB Trails with like minded women and meet new friends.

BASEBALL COME AND TRY
Have you been thinking about taking up a new sport? Maybe you used to play Baseball in school, but have forgotten the skills?
Join in with the Bendigo East Baseball Club and learn all about Baseball.
The club will teach you new skills all while having fun at the same time.

EVENING DANCE
Enjoy an evening of great music and a jive at this dance.
The event features fun music by Carmel Phelan, a good program and a home cooked supper.
There will also be a raffle with prizes. $9 admission and all are welcome.

MONSTER MEETING
Chewton Domain Society Inc. invites community members to meet at the site of the 1851 Monster Meeting of Diggers, where the gold rush began.
With music and songs, there will be a re-telling of the story of how about 15,000 diggers gathered at Australia’s first mass anti-government protest to peacefully defy Governor La Trobe’s plan to double the gold license fee.
This event will feature a sausage sizzle, display of meeting history, flag, guided walks of the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park and surrounds.
There will also be a concert featuring poetry, songs and music.

EXHIBITIONS
FRIDA KAHLO: HER PHOTOS
Featuring photos from the extensive archive of the Casa Azul (Blue House), this exhibition showcases highlights from the personal collection of Frida Kahlo.
Frida Kahlo is considered one of the most celebrated artists of the 20th century and her interests are reflected in this series of photographs, family, loves, the medical, politics and much more.
The exhibition also reveals Kahlo’s passion for collecting historical photographs as reference material for her work.

DEMOLISH
In a world premiere, this performance of dance, theatre, lighting effects, video projection and music sets the scene for DEMOLISH.
DEMOLISH was created by local theatre-makers Rebecca Russell and Ken Evans from Clunes and it explores how the Australian landscape has changed since colonisation.

FLORAL TRANSIENCE
Sharon Greenaway is a photographic artist exploring the goldfield flowers.
The native flowers in Bendigo can be small and have a short flowering time, therefore not many people may see them.
Greenaway aims to highlight the flowers’ beauty in order to help with their conservation.
As well as the photographic art pieces on the wall, there will also be some of Greenaway’s wearable art.

SCULPTURE EXHIBITION AND TRAIL
In recent weeks, some awe-inspiring outdoor sculptures have been installed on the lawns of the Hanging Rock Winery in preparation for the Art in the Vines Sculpture Exhibition and Trail.
One of Australia’s most well-known sculptors, Geoffrey Bartlett, has signed on to participate and has created his piece “Embrace #2” especially for the Art in the Vines.
Other sculptors who have pieces on display have their work on show at the likes of The Met Museum in New York, The National Gallery of Australia and other international spaces.

GOTHIC BEAUTY
Curated by Tansy Curtin and Jessica Bridgfoot (and as a Bendigo Art Gallery exclusive), this exhibition takes a look into early Victorian rituals of mourning, as early as the 1800s.
The artists featured in the exhibition range from Jane Burton, Bill Henson and Janet Beckhouse just to name a few.
This exhibition draws on works from the gallery's historic collections, as well as loaned pieces and works from contemporary artists.
