Featuring photography, jewellery, painting, sculpture and glassware, the exhibition is on display at the Market Building in Mostyn Street every day, except Christmas Day, until February 24.
More than 26,000 people visited the last summer exhibition, with art sales of almost $20,000.
“Our local artists have created some beautiful works, with many of them already sold,” Mount Alexander Shire Council team leader visitor services Aileen Walsh said.
“All works are for sale so if you’re hunting around for the perfect Christmas gift you’re sure to find something special.
“We encourage everyone to pop in and see what our local community has created.”
The annual summer and winter art exhibitions are coordinated by council to support and promote our cultural and artistic communities.
“Over the years we’ve had a lot of international visitors dropping into the exhibition so there’s local artwork hanging in homes right around the world,” Ms Walsh said.
“It’s nice to hear why people have chosen to buy particular artworks. It’s often about a connection to the place depicted or to the artist. Other times it’s just a feeling that the artwork gives them.”
