Traffic conditions at the intersection of the Saint Street and Barker Street intersection in Castlemaine now prevent a right-hand turn out of Saint Street.
Mount Alexander Shire Council is advising residents and drivers to be aware of the new change.
The alteration to the intersection was done by Mount Alexander Shire following recent approval from VicRoads and consultation with local residents.
The change will improve safety at the intersection and reduce traffic along the residential street.
Vehicles can continue to make a left hand turn, or take the alternate route via Forest Street.
