Speed restrictions will apply on V/Line’s Bendigo line services until 8pm Thursday, due to high temperatures.
These restrictions come into force when the temperature hits 36 degrees, because the steel tracks expand.
Trains slow down from up to 160km/h to 90km/h or less.
V/Line passengers are advised there may be delays or replacement coaches when such restrictions are in place.
Aside from a 15-minute delay to the 1.20pm Southern Cross to Eaglehawk service, and a change of origin from Eaglehawk to Bendigo for the 3.50pm Eaglehawk to Southern Cross Service, V/Line has reported no other specific disruptions.
Half-hourly observations from the Bureau of Meteorology showed the mercury reached 35.6 degrees in Bendigo at 3pm.
