Organisers spent the afternoon preparing to hold the carols outside in Canterbury Park and with hopes any rain would clear by 6pm.
But wet weather has set in and a spokesman said there is no time to reset the stage inside the Peter Krenz Leisure Centre.
It is unclear at this stage whether the Eaglehawk carols will be held on another night.
Carol events are still going ahead at Sacred Heart Cathedral from 7.30pm and Axedale Hall from 5.30pm.
SUNDAY, 2.25pm: Organisers of Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Carols are remaining optimistic storms won’t affect a night of festive singing.
But they are keenly watching the radar.
If storms hit, the carols will take place in the Peter Krenz Leisure Centre next to Canterbury Park.
At this stage it is unclear when, or if, they will make the decision to perform inside.
FRIDAY: For many families, it isn’t the holiday season until they’ve sung along to their favourite Christmas songs.
This Sunday, the Eaglehawk Canterbury Carols will give families the chance to sing their festive hearts out.
Committee member Laurie Fitzgerald said there is nothing better than a good sing.
“We’re just keen to see a lot of happy people on Sunday enjoy themselves. There’s nothing better than exercising the lungs,” he said.
Mr Fitzgerald believes the night will be very popular.
“When (City of Grater Bendigo mayor) Margaret O’Rourke couldn’t believe how many people were there,” he said.
“It was around 2000, which is a lot for Eaglehawk. The community is so close knit and has a reputation for being a very strongly-bound.”
The McMillan Sisters, Scarlett Abbott, the Eaglehawk Citizen’s Brass Band, Our Place Minstrels, Sing Australia Choir and local schools will all perform.
The Eaglehawk UFS Dispensary Canterbury Carols is on Sunday from 6pm at Canterbury Park. It is an alcohol and smoke-free event.
