BENDIGO’S Tayla Vlaeminck produced a strong bowling performance on debut, but it wasn’t enough for the Melbourne Renegades to begin their WBBL campaign with a win against the Sydney Thunder on Sunday.
Vlaeminck took all four of the Renegades’ wickets, finishing with figures of 4-29 off 3.5 overs at the Junction Oval.
The Renegades were defending a meagre tally of 8-98. The Thunder answered with 4-99, reaching their target in the 17th over.
Bowling first change, Vlaeminck claimed the wickets of the Thunder’s Rachel Haynes (27), Rachel Priest (9), Naomi Stalenberg (26) and Alex Blackwell (15).
Vlaeminck’s performance on Sunday comes a week after she was a member of the Australian team that won the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean.
