Temperatures are forecast to climb during the week before hitting a high of 39 on Friday. The weekend might see a slight drop in temperature, with a forecast of 35 and 32.
If Friday does hit 39 it will be the hottest day since February 8, which was also 39 degrees. November 1 nearly reached the mark at 36.8 degrees.
It’s a hotter start to summer than 2017, when temperatures did not exceed 30 degrees until December.
The week’s warm weather may be a precursor of things to come.
The Bureau of Meteorology released an outlook earlier this week suggesting central Victoria is likely to experience higher than average temperatures over the summer.
