WHITE Hills’ boom recruits Sam Kerridge and Jed Lamb will be on show in the opening game of the Heathcote District Football-Netball League’s 2019 season.

The 2019 HDFNL fixture ratified on Wednesday night features a night stand-alone season-opener on Saturday, April 6, between the Demons and Lockington-Bamawm United.

It will be White Hills’ first game under its newly-installed lighting.

The Demons have been one of the buzz teams of the off-season following the signing of Kerridge as coach and Lamb, who are both joining White Hills straight from Carlton, with the pair having played a combined 135 AFL games.

The Demons-Cats season-opener has been brought forward from round 14.

The two teams will also meet in round five, meaning they will have played both games against each other by May 11.

Following the season-opener round one will be played on Saturday, April 13.

Leitchville-Gunbower will begin its premiership defence against Mount Pleasant at Leitchville, while round one will also feature North Bendigo v Huntly, Elmore v Colbinabbin and LBU v Heathcote.

Two games will be played on Good Friday in round two – Colbinabbin v LBU and White Hills v Mount Pleasant at night in another game under lights at Scott Street.

Easter Saturday the following day will include the next installment of the league’s top rivalry when Leitchville-Gunbower hosts North Bendigo in the battle of the grand final opponents of the past four seasons.

There will be a general bye on May 18 for the HDFNL’s inter-league trek to play Sunraysia in the AFL Victoria Community Championships.

On the netball court the grand final rematch between powerhouse sides Colbinabbin and White Hills – who have met in the past three flag deciders –  will be played in round seven.

Heathcote doesn’t play its first home game until round five and Mount Pleasant doesn’t play at home until round four.

The grand final will be played on September 14.
