NEWBRIDGE will have to wait until round three next year before unfurling its 2018 Loddon Valley league premiership flag.
The LVFNL has released its 2019 fixture, which features reigning premier Newbridge playing an away game to Calivil United in round one, followed by the Maroons having a bye in round two.
The Maroons play their first home game at Riverside Park in round three on Easter Saturday against Mitiamo – the team they defeated by 44 points in this year’s grand final to win their first senior flag since 2000.
The 2019 season gets under way on Saturday, April 6.
As well as the Calivil United v Newbridge match, other games on the opening day of the season are Inglewood v Marong, Pyramid Hill v Bridgewater and Maiden Gully YCW v Mitiamo.
Bears Lagoon-Serpentine will have a delayed start to the season with the bye in the opening round, before taking on Inglewood at home in round two.
The 2019 fixture features a Good Friday match at night when Maiden Gully YCW hosts Marong under lights on April 19.
The clash against the Panthers will be one of two home games at night for the Eagles, who will also play Newbridge under lights in round six.
On the netball court, the A Grade grand final rematch between Bridgewater and Calivil United will be played in round four.
The Mean Machine defeated the Demons 39-32 in this year’s grand final.
There will be a general bye on the weekend of May 18 for AFL Victoria’s Community Championships.
Loddon Valley has been fixtured to play away against Horsham District in its inter-league match next year.
Inglewood and Calivil United have byes on either side of the inter-league weekend, giving both clubs two-week breaks.
Next year’s finals series will get under way on Saturday, August 17, with the grand final to be played on Saturday, September 7.
Loddon Valley is the second of the AFL Central Victoria 2019 fixtures to be officially released.
Loddon Valley will begin a week before the Bendigo league, which opens its 2019 season on Saturday, April 13.
