Representatives from the Victorian Planning Authority, REMPLAN and the Bendigo Manufacturing Group will speak on the issue at the event on December 5.
Council’s director of strategy and growth Bernie O’Sullivan said new strategy and the identification of future industrial land would ensure Bendigo was well placed for industry and job growth.
“The Greater Bendigo manufacturing industry recognises the urgent need for more land to accommodate growth,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
“This forum is a great opportunity to hear from experts and to cover topics such as what we need to consider when identifying land and what our industrial sector will look like in the future.”
Mr O’Sullivan said a lot of Bendigo’s industrial land is close to residential developments.
“The city regularly receives interest from large scale businesses and industries seeking to relocate here which we simply cannot accommodate currently,” he said.
“To make sure we are meeting the needs of industry, the strategy will look at changes in technology, skills, employment patterns, logistics and the Greater Bendigo economy more generally.”
Residents can email rsdenquiries@bendigo.vic.gov.au by December 3 to RSVP or submit a question to the forum.
