Eaglehawk’s BFNL premiership defence will start against its 2018 grand final opponent Strathfieldsaye.
The 2019 BFNL draw was released on Friday, with the Hawks to make the trip to Strathfieldsaye in round one on April 13.
The Borough will unveil its premiership flag at Canterbury Park in round two in a Good Friday clash with South Bendigo.
The round two draw over the Easter weekend promises to be one of the highlights of the season.
On Good Friday afternoon, Gisborne hosts arch-rival Kyneton and the Hawks will unfurl their flag.
On Good Friday night, Sandhurst and Strathfieldsaye meet at the QEO, while Maryborough hosts Castlemaine at Princes Park.
On Easter Saturday afternoon, Golden Square plays the new-look Kangaroo Flat at Wade Street in a game that should attract a bumper crowd.
Strathfieldsaye has the toughest start to the season. The Storm opens with games against Eaglehawk, Sandhurst, Golden Square and Gisborne at Gardiner Reserve.
Meanwhile, Inter-league action returns to Bendigo, with the BFNL scheduled to play Gippsland on May 18.
The league’s general bye is on the weekend of July 6-7.
