Primary and secondary school teams will roll into Maryborough for the Energy Breakthrough this week.
Of the many Bendigo region’s schools taking part, Girton Grammar School and St Therese’s Primary school are each sending three human-powered vehicles.

St Therese’s will also send two push cart teams and, for the first time, a design and innovation team.
Deakin Andrews, 12, has been on the St Therese’s Energy Breakthrough team for two years.
“You learn a lot of skills including presenting to judges. It teaches you confidence, public speaking and has fitness involved,” he said. “It’s been a long preparation.”
Girton is also sending an energy-efficient vehicle that has no carbon footprint, is fuelled by solar power and weighs just 38 kilograms.
