Renee Gray pleaded guilty in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to 11 charges, including traffic methylamphetamine, possess a drug of dependence, use a drug of dependence, possess an imitation firearm, and commit an indictable offence on bail.
The court heard police executed search warrants at Gray’s Long Gully home in September this year.
They found several snaplock bags containing ice, scales and more snaplock bags, and a glass pipe.
Police also discovered two mobile phones containing messages related to the sale of ice, and tick sheets detailed Gray owed and was owed.
Three prescription medications, as well as unknown capsules, were also uncovered during the search, as was an imitation firearm.
The court heard Gray was on bail at the time of the offending.
She was also undertaking a community corrections order, handed down in March, for trafficking ice and possessing drugs.
Defence lawyer Nicholas Rolfe said his client, who had had a substance addiction for several years, was drug-free and intended to remain so once released from custody.
Mr Rolfe said Gray also wanted to take steps to re-establish contact with her children.
She was supported in court by her mother, sister and friend.
Magistrate Patrick Southey took into account Gray’s guilty plea, but said the presence of the imitation firearm was an aggravating feature.
“If you want to be a gangster, you’ll have a short and miserable life,” Mr Southey said.
Mr Southey sentenced Gray to 12 months’ imprisonment with a non-parole period of four months.
He said the strict conditions of parole offered Gray a good chance of rehabilitation.
“You’ve got a lot to live for,” Mr Southey said.
Gray had already served 56 days in custody as of Wednesday.
