At the 131st annual Dimboola Regatta Indiana Crone won gold in the female under-17 scull and went on to win both the under-17 female double scull and female D-grade double scull with partner Livia Rosaia.
Neve Coleman out performed the field of the D-grade single scull to finish with a win.
Wilson Robertson claimed his first gold medal in the male under-15 single scull and came second in the male D-grade coxed quad scull with teammates Damien Hickey, Alex Carr, Peter Morison and coxed by Aedan Hamilton.
Peter Morison finished in second place in the masters single scull after being beaten across the line by less than a second.
To continue a weekend of success, the Bendigo crews united to tackle the 6.2km Head of the Wimmera time trial, with Livia Rosaia, Damien Hickey, Indiana Crone, Peter Morison and cox Amy Morgan won the mixed quad coxed scull with a standout time of 28 minutes and 25 seconds.
Lynda Davis, Tess Forest, Nicole Crone, Anne-Marie Roberts and cox Aedan Hamilton came in close with a second place finish in the female D-grade coxed quad sculls with a time of 31 minutes and 31 seconds.
BRC coach Tess Forest said the Bendigo rowers showed strong competition at both events.
“It was a great performance by our junior academy. Our young crews are keen, strong and perfecting the rowing technique in racing conditions,” Forest said.
“It’s impressive, considering it was the only second season on the water for some of our rowers and they were able to show such strong competition.
“Other rowers who have been with us for a few years have taken a next level approach to training and competitions.”
The club members train multiple times per week both on the water at Lake Weeroona and also addition gym sessions to improve overall strength and fitness.
Forest believes the club’s training regimes which were set by former British Olympic rowing coach Richard Hamilton were “spot on”.
“It’s an exciting time to be a young rower in Bendigo,” Forest said.
“Our aim is to get to a level where we can easily compete against the metropolitan clubs.
“There’s no reason why we can’t compete against the best.”
