The Roos started their pre-season campaign under new coach Rob Bennett at Rosalind Park on Monday night.
More than 30 players blew the cobwebs away in the 90-minute session.
Tagger Ross Turner, Bendigo Pioneers graduate Nathan McHugh, star on-baller Jonathan Lanyon and young midfielder Liam Ly led the way in the running sessions.
New playing assistant coach Matt Clifford took charge for some of the drills.
Clifford, who was a premiership player with Hastings, is the size of a key position player, but Bennett said the Roos could use him through the midfield.
The most important off-season signing for the Roos was key forward Matt Boland.
Boland played in Subiaco’s back-to-back WAFL premierships in 2014 and 2015.
He kicked seven goals in the 2015 grand final and was awarded the Simpson Medal for best-on-ground.
The Roos have also signed Scott Jansen from Hastings and Hepburn wingman Daniel Rees.
The Roos are confident they are on the right track to jump up the ladder.
Kangaroo Flat has played in one finals series in the past 17 years.
They made the preliminary final in 2009, but since then have finished sixth, eighth, seventh, ninth, sixth, eighth, sixth, eighth and eighth.
In the past two seasons they have a win-loss record of 8-28.
