Money being spent in the CBD, but not much done elsewhere
Over the past few months the council have been upgrading roundabouts and traffic islands under the safety banner within the CBD.

But a busy roundabout outside of the CBD, at the intersection of Holdsworth Road and Prouse Road, is being crumbled by large trucks running over the edge because they are to big to negotiate them.
Broken paving getting on to the road has the potential to be thrown up into the windscreens of a vehicles causing serious damage or injury.
I also noticed whilst driving up View Street a pedestrian crossing has been put in connecting the shops on one side of the street and the Capital Theatre and the Art Gallery.
Why put it in the middle of the block? Why couldn’t it have been put at the top of the hill at Rowan Street or McKenzie Street? Or is it only to appease the patrons who can afford to go to all the shows at the Capital Theatre?
There is a need for a better pedestrian crossing in Havilah Road outside the RSL with the amount of people that frequent that establishment especially the elderly which is very poorly lit.
Once again we see lots of money being spent in the CBD with numerous footpath upgrades and not much being done elsewhere.

Why turf a nature strip in drought conditions?
Travelling along Arnold St today I was amazed to see turf being laid for the nature strip.
Since we are in drought conditions, the nature strip being owned by the Bendigo City Council one would have to wonder who in their wisdom from the council has approved such an expensive money wasting exercise, after all the council will not come along to maintain and water it.
I fought for more than six years just to get a gravel footpaths up Gungurru and Hakea Roads.

Nationalism and racism
Nationalism and racism can be mutual and vary in intensity.
Quite often people, who are complaining most about them, are the worst offenders.
Rather than assimilating with the local population, they are joining together and forming different national and racial groups in the country.
