An education spokesperson says Mr Donald will start in readiness for the 2019 school year.
“Mr Donald has vital experience as a school leader and has recently come from the Queensland Department of Education where he was a director of international student programs,” they said.
“He was previously a principal at Queensland Academy for Creative Industries and an acting principal at Gladstone State High School.”

Bendigo South East College has appointed a new principal to replace Ernie Fleming, who resigned during investigations into his conduct.
Glen Donald will take up the role in 2019.
Acting principal Julie Robertson is currently filling the role.
Former principal Ernie Fleming resigned from his role earlier this year. It came during investigations by the Department of Education and the Victorian Ombudsman into allegations about his time in the role.
The ombudsman’s scathing report was released in September, finding he used his position to employ and promote family members and use “public funds as he saw fit”.
Mr Fleming rejected a number of the report’s findings, saying allegations he used his position for personal gain were unfounded and casting doubt over the credibility of the investigation.
He maintained he had made full disclosure to senior officers of the education department of conflict of interest issues and received appropriate clearances.
