Local member of COTA, member of the Bendigo Council’s Positive Ageing Advocacy Committee and three Bendigo Health sub-committmees,  Ruth Hosking has this past week (and coming week), met with the three major parties’ candidates for our State Election, and two Federal Members. These discussions have taken place to raise the COTA’s election platform and delay in the assigning of a Federal funded Home Care Package.

The COTA platform includes a vision for how we plan and deliver for our current ageing population and future selves. Modern ageing requires a range of policy responses to create opportunities and protect rights for all Victorians.  COTA acknowledges that today, some older people live with housing stress and poverty, experience discrimination and elder abuse and increasing barriers to accessing services and information – especially re the changes to applying for and availability of community and or residential services.

Ruth would appreciate receiving feedback re, the issues which individuals may be experiencing so COTA’s representation to the appropriate Government department is enhanced. It is COTA’s plan that next year we will be enquiring as to how our election platform has influenced actions by our political parties.

Most of us have heard of the magnificent seven. Well, Malcolm had no qualms about  naming  the ghastly nine on Q+A, the ones who he claims, " blew up the Government," all  because Abbott and Dutton couldn't count.

You get the feeling that these blokes would take a stick of dynamite to go rabbiting, so they wouldn't come home empty handed.

In simple terms, Turnbull was “done over” by the coal worshipers in his party, who continue to rally against renewables.

These people may have won the battle, but ultimately will lose the war, as one suspects that this will have all been in vain, as the likely hood of a lot of " renewables" on the Government front benches after the next election is a mere formality.

Unless they "blow up Bill”.
