The medals were custom-made for a serviceman or woman by David Dalgliesh. He is calling for the owner to come forward after they were returned to his Freechoice Tobacconist store in Hargreaves Mall.
Returned servicemen and women often use replicas when they attend events rather than risk damaging or losing their originals.
That has turned out to be a good thing for the owner of these medals. Not only where they lost, Mr Dalgliesh believed they appeared to have been run over by a car.
While they were damaged, Mr Dalgliesh still wanted to return them to their rightful owner. He had looked back though his docket books and had not found any relevant sales in the past 12 or 18 months.
He asked that the owner bring in evidence of ownership – perhaps a photo wearing it or a certificate of entitlement.
