FESTIVALS AND FAIRS
BUDBURST FESTIVAL
This weekend, more than 30 wineries across the Macedon Ranges welcome you.
Most of these wineries are family owned and are producing signature wines.
Local food and entertainment will also be available.

INDIAN DANCE FEST
For the first time, the Bendigo Malayalee Association presents an Indian Dance Fest stage show, featuring performers from across Victoria.
The show includes modern Bollywood performances and traditional dance forms such as Bharathyanattyam, Mohiniyattam and Kuchippudi.
The Malayalee (Kerala) community in Bendigo consists of around 400 members.
The organisation operates a dance school in Bendigo with a Melbourne based teacher who comes once a week to teach Indian dance styles to students.

RIDDELLS CREEK FESTIVAL
The Riddells Creek Festival is a popular, family-orientated event with thousands in attendance in previous years.
The festival features activities for the whole family to enjoy such as rides, entertainment and more.
There will also be over 100 food and market stalls.

When: Saturday, November 10, 4pm – 8pm.

BLUES AND ROOTS
This four-day music event features 155 performances and workshops in 50 venues throughout the Bendigo region.
This annual music festival gives visitors a chance to enjoy local music, with independent artists from the blues and roots genres.
Various events within the festival also take place, such as the Blues Tram, laneway concerts, performances at Ulumbarra Theatre and a family friendly concert in Rosalind Park.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
CASTLEMAINE HIGHLAND PIPE BAND
The Castlemane Highland Pipe Band has been part of thre community for almost 70 years. And in those 70 years they’ve held various fundraisers.
This month, they are hosting a Ceilidh fundraiser, so head out with your family and enjoy the dancing and music.
Ceilidh translates to “gathering” and is a big, fun night of Scottish dancing and music.
It’s not pipe music, so the band itself isn’t performing, but there will be a performance from Borderline Kaylee.
There will also be a dance “caller”. The caller will call the dances giving instructions, so even if you don’t know the steps you can learn on the fly.
There are group dances and partner dances.
There will be a raffle and lucky door prizes. BYO alcohol and supper.

HUMAN FLOW FILM FUNDRAISER
Macedon Ranges Rural Australians for Refugees (MRRAR) present Ai Weiwei's film journey, Human Flow, with this fundraising event.
This film captures the global refugee crisis with all funds raised going to support people seeking asylum.
MRRAR distributes funds, food and goods through refugee advocate agencies and directly to individuals and families in need.

Donations by cash or cheque can be made at the door. There will be no credit card or EFTPOS facilities at the venue.

MALDON SWAP MEET
New stallholders welcome to this annual swap meet.

DANCES
SPRING DANCE
The Spring Gully Hall Committee is hosting another great dance this weekend.
Enjoy music by Family Rhythm Dance Band and a home cooked supper. There will also be raffle and prizes.

PERFORMANCES
GROOVE ON THE GREEN
The inviting, green grounds of the Kerang Golf Club invite you to sit and enjoy the entertainment this weekend.
There will be performances by the Tiri Duo, an acoustic duo who cover pop, funk and blues songs.
Get up and dance or relax with family and friends.
Enjoy four hours of nonstop music, drinks and food.

DAVID WILLERSDORF
Touring singer-songwriter, David Willersdorf, is performing in Bendigo showcasing an original gospel service and his soul and blues originals.
Willersdorf’s album was recorded in Nashville with Australian award-winning singer-songwriter Rick Price.
The Outside Yourself Tour has seen Willersdorf play in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
Willersdorf has been raising money for the Salvation Army's Drought Relief Appeal and has been performing for various charities on his travels.

EXHIBITIONS
SCULPTURE EXHIBITION & TRAIL
Over recent weeks, some awe-inspiring outdoor sculptures have been installed on the lawns of the Hanging Rock Winery in preparation for the Art in the Vines Sculpture Exhibition and Trail.
One of Australia’s most well known sculptors, Geoffrey Bartlett, has signed to participate and has created his piece “Embrace #2” especially for the Art in the Vines.
Other sculptors who have their pieces on display have their work on showat t the likes of The Met Museum in New York, The National Gallery of Australia and other international spaces.

FLORAL TRANSIENCE
Sharon Greenaway is a photographic artist exploring the goldfield flowers.
The native flowers in Bendigo can be small and have a short flowering time, therefore not many people may see them.
Greenaway aims to highlight the flowers’ beauty in order to help conservation of them.
As well as the photographic art pieces on the wall, there will also be some of Greenaway’s wearable art.

GROWING UP IN ECHUCA – WHAT KIDS DID FOR FUN
The exhibition “Growing Up in Echuca – What Kids Did for Fun” opened October 28 and is running until the end of February.
The focus of the exhibition is connecting today’s kids to the yesteryears of their parents and grandparents and engaging families with their history.

GOTHIC BEAUTY: VICTORIAN NOTIONS OF LOVE, LOSS AND SPIRITUALITY
Curated by Tansy Curtin and Jessica Bridgfoot (and as a Bendigo Art Gallery exclusive), this exhibition takes a look into early Victorian rituals of mourning, as early as the 1800’s.
The artists featured in the exhibition range from Jane Burton, Bill Henson and Janet Beckhouse just to name a few.
This exhibition draws on works from the gallery's historic collections, as well as loaned pieces and works from contemporary artists.
