YOUNG stars from Flack Advisory Bendigo Region shone at last weekend’s Victorian All Schools track and field championships in Melbourne.

Swan Hill College’s Emma Berg achieved a golden double as she won the under-18s discus and shot put.
The discus was a great duel as Berg hit a best of 43.34 metres and Isabella Simonelli from Kilmore International School was runner-up on 42.54m.
At shot put, Berg reigned supreme as a mark of 15.79m clinched gold for the South Bendigo Athletics Club member.
Another of Kilmore International School’s stars, Taryn Furletti was in great form. Furletti ran the under-16s 3000m in 10:21.37 to win gold. The South Bendigo member also took out the 2000m steeplechase in 7:17.88.
Antonio Vaitohi from Notre Dame College won the under-16s 100m in 10.90 and a time of 22.61 earned second place in the 200m showdown for the Bendigo Harriers member.
Weeroona College’s Abbey Hromenko cleared 1.55m to be equal third in under-17 high jump.
St Augustine’s College’s James Woods cleared 1.86m to be third in the under-16 high jump, and soared 3.65m to take bronze in pole vault. Woods competes with South Bendigo.
Jayden Padhgam from Bendigo South East College put in another superb effort in the 1500m. Racing in the under-14 class, Padgham ran 4:30.56 to earn bronze.
Another bronze medallist was Jorja Hill from Marist College Bendigo. Hill competes with Bendigo Harriers and hoisted the javelin to a mark of 29.58m to be third in the under-14s final.
First and second at the Victorian All Schools have qualified to compete at the Australian All Schools from December 7 to 9 in Cairns.
